I can say with all honesty and excitement that my family enjoyed every single minute of this show and that I HIGHLY recommend you check it out. We were given the opportunity to watch 2 episodes of the show along with my husband, 10 year old daughter and 6 year old daughter. I’ve always loved diary themed books and shows. It will remind me of the things she is going through, while showing her that these things are all normal. I intend on watching this show with my daughter for some mom and daughter time. and the ensuing attempt to get rid of the unwanted hair makes for hilarious storytelling, relatability and truly a wonderful story time. With topics like periods, first time bra’s and the consciousness of the dreaded mustache that girls sometimes get. I wish there was a show like this when I was in middle school! But like I always tell my kids… you just have to get through the middle school drama and it happens to everyone. There are the typical middle school challenges like the sudden loss of best friends, the road to independence and homework due dates and for girls … the question of when menstruation is going to start… I absolutely love the show. Elena’s father passed away 3 years ago and her mom, Gabby (Selenis Leyva), enters the dating pool, specifically with a sweet, romantic, goofy and hilarious guy she met at work named Sam (Micheal Weaver). She gives you a deeper look into her diary, specifically those of the most awkward age of your life… middle school! I love the first person narration, that comes through with her inner personal thoughts and struggles. The Diary Of A Future President is told through the narration of a Cuban American girl, Elena Cañero-Reed (Tess Romero), who becomes the president of America.
